Akiya, originally from Los Angeles, California, learned the art of braids, twists, and cornrows at the age of 12 years old. Self-taught by working on her own hair, friends, and family. Taking the next step to become a professional braid stylist while attending college. 

Moving to Oakland, California, she soon learned how to start, repair, maintain, and extend Dreadlocks while still performing the other Natural Hair styles.

Zanai's Love Of Hair was started September 2007, while pregnant and still braiding. One year since the start of Zanai's Love Of Hair the services she provides are Braids, Kinky Twists, Cornrows, Dreadlocks, Dreadlock Extensions, and now Senegalese Twists. Soon, she will be offering Full Head and Partial sew-in hair extensions, Tree Braids, Spring Twists, and Nubian Twists. Akiya is always learning new style techniques while working on websites and promotional graphic design.
