Sisterlocks? & Brotherlocks? are permanent and should not be considered if you are looking for a quick fix or a temporary reprieve from chemical processing.

At the consultation you can expect to spend approximately one (1) hour. The consultation is designed to discuss the Sisterlocks?/Brotherlocks? hair locking process. You will be asked questions regarding your lifestyle as it relates to your past and current hair care practices. This includes past hair styling habits, shampooing habits, daily activities such as exercise, outdoor pleasures, etc. We will discuss how the Sisterlocks?/Brotherlocks? process differs from other hair locking techniques. Your unique natural hair texture affects the appearance of Sisterlocks?/Brotherlocks?. The use of certain types of hair care preparations affects the feel and appearance of Sisterlocks?/Brotherlocks?.

At the consultation, you will receive a cluster of sample locks, in groups of around 8 - 12. You should have at least 3" - 4" of hair length. Less than 3" will make the sample locks difficult to analyze. The purpose of these samples is to determine your natural hair texture, any changes in texture and density, and to choose which locking pattern is best suited for your particular hair type. It is strongly recommended that your hair be CLEAN, FREE OF ANY OILS OR CONDITIONERS, AND WITHOUT BRAIDS/TWISTS OR EXTENSIONS. Hair can be air dry not blown dry. If you are transitioning from chemically processed hair to natural hair, at least 1½" - 2" of new growth is necessary. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CUT OFF YOUR RELAXED HAIR. If you have recently relaxed your hair or are between braiding appointments, you will need to reschedule the consultation. If you have an extreme dandruff, eczema or psoriasis condition or an unhealthy scalp, which requires treatment, please reschedule until the condition has improved.

In order for Sisterlocks?/Brotherlocks? to be uniform in appearance and remain strong and healthy, we must form a partnership. This partnership means agreeing to be consistent with retightening appointments, following post appointment instructions, and using recommended Sisterlocks? products, exclusively.

The Sisterlocks™ & Brotherlocks™ Package

<< back to services

Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks are offered as a package of 3 visits, including a Consultation, the Locking Session and a Follow-Up Visit.

First Visit: The Consultation

During this session, you will discuss with your Consultant or Trainee, your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your lifestyle in order to determine if  Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks  is right for you. You will also have "TEST LOCKS" put in your hair to see if they will hold, check sizes, amount of scalp showing, settling-in time, etc. This consultation is essential for the both of you, to ensure you get your Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks done in the most suitable way. Your package price should be quoted during the consultation.

Second Visit: The Locking Session

Bring a good book because the locking process can take from 10  to 15 hours per day or even longer in some cases. the average Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks customer will leave this session with an average of 400 locks and a whole new attitude! A "Starter Kit" is provided. It includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands, and "tip sheets" on grooming and shampooing as your locks settle-in. Be sure to schedule your follow-up visit before leaving on the last day of your installation. Good maintenance is the key to gorgeous Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks over time. The remainder of your package price usually  is paid during the first (1st) day of the  2-day session (if hair is longer can be 3 days or more).

Third Visit: Follow-Up

You will need to schedule your follow-up visit after at least two shampoos, which is usually within a month (1 month or 4 weeks) from the time you first get your locks put in. I will monitor the integrity of your locks, tighten them up and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take. You can also begin discussing styling tips for the "total look" that's right for you! The fee for this visit will be included in your Package price.

Ongoing Follow-Up Visits

It  is recommended that you schedule your first few re-tightening visits at 4 - 6 week intervals. This way, the progress of your locks can be monitored. As your locks mature, your consultant or trainee can determine how often you will need to come in for re-tightenings. The average time between visits is 4 - 8 weeks, depending on the hair type and rate of hair growth.
